Made a quick hike to Lake 22 today, without even realizing it was the 22nd of July 🤣
We pulled into the lot about 10 mins before 8 AM with just a few spots open. Though we did notice a couple more parking spots could have been available if people parked a little tighter. The hike starts pretty easy through nice forest with a bit of an incline, but the talus slope is the tough spot. Going early helped with parking and with avoiding heat on the talus as we went up.
As we went down, we saw many casual hikers huffing and puffing in the heat. Go early, go slow, and take lots of water! One particular group of unfit folks were also chugging red bull, which is a recipe for disaster. Please drink water/electrolytes/salt, not caffeine and sugar. I imagined that would be a good way to have a heart attack and thought about the poor firefighters who'd have to climb up there to get you.
